            Dr. Mary Rachel Maczko is a sought after performer and currently holds the positions of English Horn in the Augusta Symphony and Acting Principal Oboe in the Albany Symphony Orchestra. She is an extra musician and has appeared as principal oboist

in concerts with the Atlanta Symphony and enjoys regular performances with the Charleston Symphony, Savannah Philharmonic, Huntsville Symphony, and Atlanta Pops Orchestra.

            For many years Rachel held the position of English Horn in the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, performed extensively in Tennessee and New England, and toured much of the Midwest and China. She has appeared alongside a variety of artists such as Ben Folds, Shirley Jones, the Styx, and Mannheim Steamroller.

            Rachel enjoys teaching and most recently led masterclasses at Interlochen Arts Academy, University of Georgia, and Georgia State University. Rachel has taught at Florida State University and Tennessee State University and her high school students have performed in the Tennessee All State bands and gone on to study at prestigious institutions including Harvard University.  

          Rachel is also interested in alternative music projects and enjoys exploring the role of the oboe in non-traditional settings. As a member of the band Meetings in Secret she performed a combination of funk and jazz music and looks forward to learning more about the electronic genres in the future.

            A native of Atlanta, Rachel went on to attend prestigious music schools, obtaining higher education degrees from Boston University as well as Florida State University. Her primary teachers include Eric Ohlsson, Jonathan Dlouhy, Linda Strommen, and Laura Ahlbeck. Rachel is a member of the International Double Reed Society and owns a thriving music studio in Atlanta where she teaches both piano and oboe lessons.
